  • San Francisco – July 29, 2026: Today, Stitch Fix, the leading online personal styling service,  announced new research revealing that the postpartum style journey lasts far longer than many people realize. The study, which surveyed 1,000 moms, unveiled that motherhood reshapes how many women see themselves, with lasting effects on confidence, identity and personal style that persist for years after giving birth.

Stitch Fix’s latest research revealed several postpartum wardrobe challenges, including:

    • A Drop in Confidence: Moms experience a 30-percentage-point drop in style confidence after childbirth, with over 70% reporting feeling confident in their personal style before having a baby, compared to just over 40% post-baby.
    • A Lost Style Identity: 40% of moms say they still don’t feel like themselves when getting dressed two or more years after giving birth. Similarly, over 50% say their pre-pregnancy wardrobe no longer reflects who they are today and they are still trying to define their new style identity.
    • Everyday Emotional Impact: Nearly 65% of postpartum moms admit to skipping social events or avoiding family photos because they did not feel confident in what they had to wear.

“We know the meaningful role style confidence plays in how moms feel about themselves,” said Sarah Funderburk, Vice President of Styling, Stitch Fix. “More than 80% of mothers agree that wearing clothes that reflect their personal style directly boosts confidence, and nearly half say that investing in clothes that fit their current body is the single greatest catalyst for reclaiming that self-assurance. At Stitch Fix, we are committed to helping women reconnect with their personal style so they can look and feel their best.”

To spotlight the long-term identity shift of motherhood and show how embracing personal style can help women reconnect with themselves through the transition, Stitch Fix has teamed up with Dancing with the Stars  Pro Lindsay Arnold. Alongside welcoming her third baby, son Hayes, in June, Lindsay is also the founder of The Movement Club, a digital fitness platform dedicated to helping women build strength and confidence through every season of life, including pregnancy and postpartum.

“All too often, we hear about an instant postpartum ‘bounce back’ timeline, but the reality is that your body and your identity keep changing long after the baby arrives,” says Lindsay Arnold. “I know firsthand that finding yourself again after childbirth takes time and that’s exactly why I wanted to work with Stitch Fix. It’s time to stop pressuring moms to rush back to who they used to be, and start celebrating who they are right now.”
