Stitch Fix Announces 2025 Style Forecast; Unveils 2024’s Biggest Fashion Influences

Posted by Jenny Herr, Head of Trend, Stitch Fix

Navigating the fast-paced trend cycle can be daunting. From fleeting microtrends to a multitude of influences telling people what to wear, our clients tell us that deciding how (or if!) individual trends fit into their personal style can often feel overwhelming. In fact, while 83% of clients surveyed say trends hold some level of importance to them, nearly two-thirds struggle with deciding what clothes work best.

We are here to help. Drawing on feedback from our millions of clients, alongside insights from our Stylists and in-house trend experts, today we’re excited to announce our annual trend report – the 2025 Stitch Fix Style Forecast – that looks back at the fashion influences of 2024 and predicts what we anticipate to be the top trends for 2025.

2024’s Biggest Fashion Influences – This past year, cultural and entertainment-driven moments shaped our closets, with top influences being:

  • The Bridgerton Effect: The show’s romantic, whimsical aesthetic appeared to inspire our clients with requests for “coquette” styles up 100% compared to last year.
  • Eras-Inspired Style: Mentions of Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour surged 60% compared to last year – sparking demand for sparkly and feminine looks.
  • Parisian Chic: Stitch Fix Stylists crowned Emily in Paris the year’s most stylish show and clients agree. Requests for quintessential Parisian staples like stripes rose 35% in the month following the premiere.
  • Western Wins: Yellowstone may have just returned in November, and with it, its western fashion influence, driving a 24% increase in “western” requests since last year and sales of western-inspired boots doubling compared to last fall.
  • Olympic Influence: In the sport of style influencing, the Olympics were the champs with our clients who ranked it the most influential sporting event of the year.

The 2025 Color of the Year…Wisteria

After successfully predicting Matcha would be 2024’s standout hue (Brat Summer, anyone?), 2025 will be all about Wisteria. This dreamy shade of purple evokes softness and sophistication. We are already seeing a steady rise in client searches for purple, signaling its growing appeal as a soft yet statement making color.

Stitch Fix’s Trend Predictions for 2025 – The top five trends for 2025 are:

  • Corner Booth: Elevated Dressing for a Night Out – 2025 will be all about elevated night-out style. Animal prints, faux leather and strategically placed cutouts are stealing the spotlight. Faux leather sales have climbed 15% year-over-year, searches for animal prints are up a staggering 400% from June to September, and 1 in 4 women clients shared that they’re excited to embrace subtle cutouts next year.
  • Easy Street: Marrying Comfort with Chic – Styles that blend comfort and chic will dominate next year. Think slouchy tailoring, wide-leg trousers and a “borrowed from the boys” aesthetic. Searches for wide leg bottoms are up 40% year-over-year and 1 in 3 women clients is ready to explore oversized, relaxed silhouettes in the year ahead.
  • Ranch Revival: Western-Inspired, City Ready – Western charm will continue to be popular in 2025 and evolve to incorporate a refined edge. Denim-on-denim, barn jackets and barrel-leg jeans (which have already surged 2,925% in client searches compared to last year) will become wardrobe staples. Suede and fringe requests have also increased by 25% since last year, cementing this trend’s staying power.
  • Flight Club: Men’s Elevated Athleisure Takes Flight – Polished and put together, this first-class take on athleisure redefines travel-ready style. Hybrid pants, track sets and performance sneakers combine comfort with refinement. With 60% of men’s clients gravitating towards elevated athleisure, our clients can now embrace their own version of athlete’s “tunnel fits”.
  • Modern Maverick: Timeless With a Twist for Men – Equal parts rugged and refined, Modern Maverick is about new classics for true originals. Straight-leg denim and utility-inspired layers like shackets and barn jackets are what our men’s clients will be seeking in 2025. Plaid button downs remain a favorite, while requests for corduroy have risen 18% this past season.

We believe that trends should inspire, not overwhelm. With the 2025 Style Forecast, we make it seamless for our clients to explore wearable, approachable trends in a way that works for them.
